Rigged person

The video above is a simple rigged character, I was unable to access my old scene and animation to improve it as the file became corrupt, below is some screenshots that explain how I rigged and animated the character. I started off by grabbing a default character and using the front view to add in some joints with the joint tool, I then used the bind option to bind the joints to the model, this then allowed me to move certain aspects of the character individually; then I began to move some of the body parts around and keyframed each bit so it moves, then I stuck it into a standard landscape and added a physical sky, after this I simply chose the render settings and rendered out the animation.Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.22.21Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.22.44Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.22.56Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.23.12Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.27.27Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.27.40Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.28.02Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.28.02 1Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.28.03Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.28.03 1Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 11.28.04

Interactive Graphic Narrative

My original plan was to use unity however time restrained me from being able to use unity, I attempted to teach myself how to use flowcharts in unity but it was taking too long and I wasn’t getting anywhere so I decided to show how the interaction would occur, I started out by importing the comic into after effects as the main background image, I then created 2 different arrows, one for the page turn and one to click, I then transformed the shapes into their positions and proceeded to keyframe the arrow to certain positions to show interaction with the comic and it’s transitions. The arrow goes along the screen as if a person was controlling it and bounces from item to item, this is designed to simulate human actions by then clicking in the corner to move along to the next page.

The original design was supposed to feature an option where you could click on a character and an arrow would shoot out and land on an enemy in the next slide, however I was not able to complete this due to time restraint and therefore opted for this method to demonstrate the transitions. I also would’ve liked to added in a sou d effect for certain items ie a bang sound for the bullet being shot at green arrow. If I had managed my time better and got to grips with unity faster then I would’ve liked the extra bits and pieces to polish it off and make it look industry standard.

I showed the short clip to a few of my peers, I then asked for their opinion on the clip and this is what I received; “it’s a bit too short of a demo but with more time and effort I reckon you could’ve made that way better.” “I like the ideas you had and the comic looks good just needed those extra ideas in there and it would’ve been perfect.”

I took these compliments and pondered about how my peers saw my work, in future I will be sure to add these details in and try harder to manage my time properly as it seems people would’ve actually liked to see the other bits in action.

Unit 14 – Task 3

CV

To maintain my workflow I will need to gain some work to begin with, I will start with advertising in appropriate places; such as websites, social media and possibly shop windows too. Once I have the work coming in I will need to maintain the work coming in and make sure I am managing my personal time and work time properly. I may come to a point where I have too much work, to avoid any issues I will try to negotiate with each client and try to find out if I am able to work on one persons work and push back another clients work until I am available, I will have to make sure I don’t overwork too as that may cause mental issues and physical issues for me, I will try to work 4/5 days on the freelance work and 2/3 days on personal life. In my workspace I will need to make sure my workspace is completely clear and free of any distractions so I can focus and maximise my workload potential.

I looked on Creative Skillset for jobs within in my media sector and I found a couple of matches; on was a cinematic animator, the other was a game designer. I would say both of these suit my current skillset as I am capable producing basic models for games and basic animations as shown in my portfolio on my wordpress blog. The jobs I found however; are too advanced for my current skill set and I will need more tutoring or time for learning the more advanced techniques associated with these chosen specialist jobs, i.e modelling in new software to industry standard and animating smoother animations.

The feedback I received from my peers is as follows;

One person said “The business card looks very nice and the space theme to it shows a good creative mind, however the card is somewhat packed and looks too vibrant so the colours clash.”

Another person said “I think the website layout and business card are too messy and should feature more info on what you do, also the colours aren’t too good to look at, but the slogan is cool.”

Unit 14 ~ Task 2

My chosen Specialism is 3D animator/cinematic creator for games. I would like to work in the animation business in a job I found on creative skill set as an Animator (Games;) It will allow me to be creative and imaginative while also having knowledge of both 3D and 2D animations. My current skills involve me being able to create 3D models and applying them to videos/cinematics that I create and edit in other softwares. I intend to use these skills to make future game cinematics for triple A titles and allow the player to feel more immersed in the story that my cinematics will tell. To achieve these goals I will need to get a triple PASS minimum in a L3 BTEC Course, this is because I need to get a certain amount of UCAS points to reach the next step, from here I will need to get onto a University Degree preferably one in Bristol or Falmouth, during the studying time I could work on my portfolio and when I finish I will have a portfolio for future employers and  a Diploma in Animation or Programming. I will need to work on my professionalism as well during my study time so that I am fully prepared for life as a freelancer.

Unit 65: Task 2

I have been moved through to the next round of the Tall Story Studios Competition and now have to create a working interactive animated graphic narrative, the information and listed below is to show how I plan to create the interactive graphic narrative and how it all ties in together and how it suits the client brief that Tall Story Studios has set for me.

Below is the final comic to show the style I will stick to and the dark colour palette that I started with.

I plan to have the arrows move across the screen whenever someone moves the mouse over that panel.

I will have Arrow zipline down from the bridge when you click on the bridge.

Bullets will fly too when a mouse goes over it.

I may include some door openings or maybe a bird flying past in the background.

I will most likely stick to the same colour palette but may feature a ‘swoosh’ sound effect when the arrows and bullets fly across the screen, the night scenes I could feature a cricket chirping noise, When the character hangs his hood up the mouse could make the light shine brighter and the door could open or close.

Below is a Mindmap of my ideas for the Graphic Narrative

The software I will use to create the interactive animation of my comic will be Adobe Illustrator as it allows me to create vector-based images I will use fungus the plug in for unity as it is the easiest to use and allows the creation of vector based animations for web. I will follow a similar basic dark colour palette and layout through the graphic narrative and web animation to set the mood for a dark twisted plot line and to show that the story is set during the night over a few days. This will get the reader intrigued and want to know more about the story, and they will begin to feel the emotions that the main character feels. The interactive assets will simply make the reader become further immersed in the story of the graphic narrative and will then hopefully fit the target audience.

  • The Freelancers Union. ..
  • Graphic Artists Guild. …
  • Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) …

Business Plan: £500 a month rent for studio flat, £300 a month for food, expenses etc, £200 a month for equipment/insurance. Pensions: I can deposit up to £300 a month to a pension scheme regardless of pay but I am not forced to, therefore I can range it depending on my salary, £300 a month would be the ideal goal but realistically I will most likely be depositing £150 a month.
